Autumn and Winter in CONTINo Theatre

In September there was a six-week residency of several students of Accademie dell’arte from Italian Arezzo in Plum Yard in Malovice. During this time the students took part in workshops and training run by the members of Continuo and they learned about Continuo´s creative methods and ways of teaching. During the time the students collected the material from exercises and improvisations that was used to create their performance called The Things. It was prepared under the guidance of Pavel Štourač, the art director of Continuo Theatre, as a result of creative and pedagogic work of the team. The performance is based on physical theatre, improvisation, live music and animation of materials and objects. Even if the performers did not speak much, they told intertwined life stories of several characters who meet and miss each other in a nameless bar on the outskirts of a nameless town.

The premiere of the play took place on 19th October at Plum Yard in Malovice. After that a few more performances were held in Prague, Brno, and Olomouc.

On 25th October Continuo Theatre took part in the Café Festival in Písek with the performance NOW..?. Then they moved to Germany where the same performance was played three times within a mini autumn tour, namely in Potsdam on 31st October, Berlin on 2nd October and Dresden on 9th November where a fve-day workshop of Continuo Theatre was also held from 4th to 8th November. Plum Yard in Malovice, the seat of Continuo Theatre, welcomed really nice guests on 9th November. There was a performance called ANIMALINSIDE by a choreographer and dancer Jaro Viňarský. The performance was on the programme of the festival of experiments in contemporary dance and physical theatre called MIMO MÍSU, which was organized by the dancing venue KREDANCE from České Budějovice.

In October a trainee Mariana Tucci from Uruguay joined the ranks of Continuo Theatre. Now the team is finishing winterizing Plum Yard, which included making doors in the “Barn” and the reconstruction of caravans. However, Continuo mainly begins to focus on the preparation of a new puppet performance directed by Pavel Štourač. Its premiere will be held in February next year. Continuo members want to concentrate all their powers on its preparation. That’s why they are not planning any public performances from December to February except the guest appearance in the performance The Bartered Bride in the National Theatre in Prague.
